One day, however, I decided to try to make some friends at lunch. I wasn't really nervous or anything. I have always felt confident in my ability to make friends. It was just that, up until that point, I never really tried. So without any hesitation, I went and sat next to a girl that I had met at a stake dance a couple weeks before. Conversation flowed easily. Suddenly, The cutest boy I ever saw approached me. At first I couldn't tell if he was making eye contact with me, or the girl next to me. But, I soon found out it was me he was about to talk to. I could feel my heart beat a little faster as he began speaking....
"Excuse me.... you are sitting in my spot...."
Yep. No joke. There you have it. The first words Bryce ever spoke to me. So romantic, eh? Oh how far we have come. One thing lead to the next, and both of us developed a little crush on one another. High school romance--don't you just love it?
After we graduated from high school, we both went off to college at BYU-Idaho. Nothing was serious at that point. We were just friends. Best friends. Sometimes we simply viewed each other like siblings.
It is funny how God works sometimes. The night I thought could be the worst night of my life turned out to bring me to the realization of the person I have loved all along. It is sometimes during the most trying times in your life that Heavenly Father shows you your greatest blessings. Mine was Bryce.
Anyway, that is about the time we made this whole thing official. My first kiss with Bryce was February 13, 2009. It was the perfect setting, snow falling gently, snowmobiling in the foothills.... I couldn't have asked for a more picturesque setting for my first kiss with my future husband.
A few months later, Bryce left on his 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For 1,051,200 minutes, we were separated by 10,000 miles... I was in Boise, Idaho, he was in South Africa. I will tell you now that was the hardest 2 years of my life. I found things to keep me going, but nothing could fill the gap he left in my heart. I wrote him almost every single week of his mission.
That's how we got to where we are today! Now we are living happily ever after.... and this blog is a record of our journey together. I hope you enjoy it as much as we have!
